Village watchman injured in botched robbery

A VILLAGE watchman was wounded in a botched robbery by six gunmen in the municipality of Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte, the police said Thursday.

The Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Police Office identified the victim as Ben Jakarain, 45. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was hospitalized.

The police said the botched robbery happened around 6:50 p.m. Wednesday in the village of Latabon, Siocon municipality.

Investigation showed that Jakarain was standing in front of a store together with other customers when six gunmen arrived and declared the heist.

However, the police said the suspects failed to robbed Ursula Micabalo, the store owner, and fled as the customers blocked them.
