Zamboanga City to buy drilling rigs to help farmers

THE Office of the Zamboanga City Agriculture is set to purchase two mobile drilling rigs worth P4 million to help the farmers ensure water supply in case the El NiƱo phenomenon will strike anew.

City Agriculturist Diosdado Palacat said Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has approved the proposal to purchase the drilling rigs that would cost P1.2 million each.

Palacat said a mobile drilling rig is used to drill water wells to help mitigate the adverse effect of possible severe drought.

He said the drilling rig can be transferred from one village to another.

He said the papers for the purchase of the equipment are being prepared for bidding purposes. (Bong Garcia)
