Eastmincom thankful for salary increase

THE Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) thanked the national government for the salary increase of uniformed personnel, which will take effect soon, as this would further boost their morale.

This, after President Rodrigo R. Duterte signed and approved the Joint Resolution No. 1 increasing the salary of military and police which contains the modified base pay of the police, military and other uniformed personnel.

Eastmincom commander Lieutenant General Benjamin Madrigal Jr. welcomes this development saying, “This is a big morale booster to our troops and our respective family. While soldiers don’t count the cost of serving the country and our people, this is a token of recognition of the dedication and services of our soldiers, some of whom have offered the supreme sacrifice, in defending the country against threats to national stability."

"This will also surely boost not only their morale as public servants, but their sense of dignity and honor as defenders of the country and its people as well," Madrigal added.

Unlike the previous month where entry-level uniformed officer only received a base pay of P14,834, with the effectivity of the resolution, uniformed personnel shall receive P29,668 starting this month.

Entry-level uniformed officers include Police/Fire/Jail Officer 1, a Private, an Apprentice Seaman, or a Seaman Third Class.

With this, uniformed personnel particularly the government troopers will be able to address the needs of their families and protect their welfare.

"Not only will this added take-home pay enable them to provide more for their family’s needs but this will also serve as a support to them in preparing for their future," he said.

He thanked their commander-in-chief President Duterte for pushing for the salary adjustment that he promised to them during few months since he assumed the presidency.

Madrigal assured that the security forces will do their best to protect the country against threats from criminals and lawless armed groups.

"We thank the President for this increase as this only affirms the national government’s commitment to recognize and support those who put their lives at stake for the country. Rest assured that this will further inspire us to do even more to serve our beloved nation," he said.
