China gives P5-M aid to NCCC fire victims

THE People's Republic of China gave P5 million to the families of 38 fatalities of the NCCC Mall Davao fire.

In a statement released by the Davao City Information Office on Friday, Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua personally turned over the assistance to the families of the deceased on Friday in a hotel in Davao City.

The distribution of the financial assistance was assisted by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.

The report read that Duterte-Carpio thanked the Chinese government for the donation to the families.

“We highly appreciate how you took the time and effort to personally come here to our city to extend your condolences and generosity,” the mayor said.

On Wednesday, officials from the Communist Party of China also met with Duterte-Carpio at the City Hall.

The visit highlights the strong relationship between Davao City and Beijing.
