THE Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) registered an all time high with its fire collection fee as part of its mandate of ensuring fire safety of homes and establishments Cordillera region.
In its New Year's call program, BFP-Cordillera director Maria Sofia Mendoza pointed out the commendable professionalism of the 763 fire personnel which registered a 118 percent increase in the collection of fire safety fees.
"Our well trained marshals and staff contributed greatly to the success of the BFP-Car in garnering a record P17 million collection of fees as compared to P13 million in 2016," said Senior Superintendent Mendoza.
Mendoza added fire safety inspection is being conducted as a pre-requisite to grant permits or licenses by local governments or other government agencies.
Inspections are done at least once a year and every time the owner, administrator or occupant renews their business permit or permit to operate.
Aside from the fire collection fees, BFP - Car noted a 64 percent drop in the number of non-structural fire showing the efficiency of the regional fire bureau.
In its program to be ready for any eventuality aside from fire incidents, the bureau was awarded by its national headquarters in its efforts in responding to the effects of Typhoon Lawin which garnered a tropical cyclone signal no. 5.
"The BFP CAR was awarded the Medalya ng Pagtulong sa mga Nasalanta during our recognition day after we were able to successfully limit the effects of the typhoon in the region due to due to our swift and efficient coordination with the OCD, DOH, PNP among others," Mendoza expressed.
The fire bureau was designated by the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council to be the clearing operators during calamities and disasters.
