6 nabbed for illegal fishing

AUTHORITIES have impounded six fishing boats and arrested its owners for fishery law violation in the municipality of Jose Dalman, Zamboanga del Norte, the police said on Saturday.

The Zamboanga del Norte police said the fishing boats and its owners were apprehended around 4 a.m. Friday, January 12, off Jose Dalman town.

The policemen from Jose Dalman were conducting seaborne patrol when they spotted six fishing boats engaged in illegal fishing within the territorial waters of Poblacion.

The police identified the owners of the impounded fishing boats as Melchor Llido; Guillermo Rodriguez; Geno Abo; Agustino Yunting; Simon Bolivar; and, Orbano Labadlabad.

The police said they were caught in the act of illegal fishing in violation of Municipal Fishery Ordinance No. 005-008-2015. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
