Twin affair at the Indonesian Consulate

The Indonesian Consul General’s residence has never had welcomed this much number of guests to date, perhaps. To many, me included, it has become a regular destination. This was after Berlian Napitupulu, the current Consul General who arrived in Davao in 2017, opened its doors and hosted a number of affairs. This was his way of extending friendship and brotherhood, and promoting Indonesian culture in a more personal way.

If I may say, this is the most aggressive team the Indonesian Consulate has had by far. Last year alone, the consular office organized events focusing on trade and tourism came aplenty. The series included trade expos— the Indonesian manufactured products, culinary festival, food and beverage, and fashion expositions; arts, culture, tourism, and economic expositions; and even extended free cooking lessons with the residence as the venue.

Recently, Consul General Napitupulu extended an invitation to the first affair for 2018.

In the celebration of the beginning of 2018 and more fruitful partnership, I would like to invite you to Consulate General of Indonesia’s Open House at the Residence of the Consul General, read the invitation.

“This gathering is not only a moment of celebrating our achievements but also to meet more friends. I met some of you in a formal gathering where we don't have enough time to chat. This is not a formal gathering. It is intended to be informal,” said ConGen Napitupulu.

“I am proud to say that the Philippines is one of the countries that we can call a friend as well as brother. In this house, mi casa es su casa.”

Sharing the good news, Napitupulu said that in 2017 trade relations between Indonesia and the Philippines has increased. This year, they will continue with the trade promotions, friendship, and brotherhood, which is mutually beneficial, with one thing in mind, for the betterment of our countries, Philippines and Indonesia, in 2018 and the many years to come.

It came to everyone’s surprise that the other cause to gather was the Consul General’s birthday.

The atmosphere in the room lightened up and turned more relaxed when the well wishes and birthday cake were presented.

Congratulations Indonesian Consulate and happy birthday Consul General Berlian Napitupulu!
