Fil-Canadian, Malaysian tourists to visit NegOcc

ABOUT 250 Filipino-Canadians and 15 Malaysian tourists will visit Negros Occidental at the end of the month and the first week of February.

Provincial Tourism Office head Christine Mansinares said the arrivals would be a big boost to the province’s tourism industry.

She said the Filipino-Canadian group included Negros Occidental in their winter escapade itinerary.

Mansinares said the Provincial Government will hold the Governor’s Night to welcome the group from Canada on February 6 at the Social Hall of the Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City.

The group of Malaysians will arrive after completing their visit in Iloilo City for the Dinagyang Festival.

The group comprises 15 individuals, most of whom are celebrities and media personalities from Malaysia.

Mansinares said the Malaysians’ visit is part of their familiarization tour following the opening of direct flights between Iloilo City and Kuala Lumpur last month.

Aside the two groups, other nationalities will also visit Negros Occidental in the coming months to escape the cold winter weather.

The Department of Tourism is expected to include Negros Occidental in the Mega Familiarization Trip which covers all regions in the country.
