Public schools warned vs floods, landslides

CEBU City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office chief Nagiel Bañacia advised all public elementary to high schools to take pre-cautionary measures against imminent floods and landslides.

This, as the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) issued heavy rainfall (yellow alert) in Metro Cebu due weather disturbance (low pressure area) affecting the country.

All public schools are directed to activate their school disaster risk reduction management plans and other responders to guide the children in going home.

Bañacia said he already instructed all principals that they have the discretion to suspend classes if the need arises.

Bañacia urged the public to report to the City’s Command Center and contact 0947 1780000, 0947 1789999, 0923 5248222 for any untoward incident in their area.
