LTFRB to summon taxi driver, woman in viral video

THE Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB)-Central Visayas will summon the taxi driver and woman involved in an alleged harassment incident that happened outside the Basilica Minore Del Santo Niño last Monday.

LTFRB 7 director Ahmed Cuizon told reporters he will be summoning both parties to determine who is liable for the incident.

In his post on Facebook, Zeerex Joy Bolongaita Nacario claimed that the incident occurred just a few meters away from Basilica.

Nacario said he was waiting for a taxi when he encountered the taxi driver.

While he was the first person to call the taxi driver’s attention, Nacario said an unidentified woman along with her companions suddenly cut him so they can take the taxi.

Nacario said he decided to ignore the incident and let the woman take the taxi.

But the taxi driver refused the woman as he planned to turn his unit in to their garage in Mandaue City.

After refusing the woman, the taxi driver suddenly turned to Nacario and let them ride his taxi as they were both going to Mandaue City.

Seeing what happened, the old woman approached the taxi driver and started berating him.

She also took out her cellular phone and started taking pictures of the driver.

But it became violent when the woman boarded the taxi and started grabbing the driver’s hair.

The incident was caught on video and has been shared more than 6,000 times on Facebook as of 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Cuizon advised taxi drivers to place signages on their windshields if they plan to go back to garages and are not interested to take in passengers.

Cuizon also advises taxi drivers to avoid refusing passengers, especially if they don’t have signages placed on their windshields.

He reminded taxi drivers that the LTFRB’s Oplan Isnabero is monitoring their movements and they could be sanctioned for refusing passengers.
