Permit from OBO needed to build bleachers

PRIVATE companies located along the Sinulog grand parade route that wish to set up bleachers on Sunday have until tomorrow to register with the Cebu City Government.

Councilor Dave Tumulak, Sinulog executive committee chairman, said they just have to submit a copy of their structural design and secure a permit with the Office of the Building Official (OBO) before they can put up the structures.

He reminded them that the bleachers should not obstruct the pedestrians and encroach on the parade area.

“For those who build bleachers along the route without a permit and structural design approval coming from the OBO, their bleachers will be dismantled if the structure is not suitable and safe. That will be risky for those who will occupy it,” Tumulak said.

The councilor added that a City Hall team will inspect the structures and will demolish the bleachers.

In a related development, at least 400 barangay environmental officers will be fielded on Sunday to apprehend those who will not dispose of their garbage properly.

Spectators and contingents are reminded to throw their trash in the designated areas to keep the city clean.

“For our performers, they have to bring their garbage back. The out-of-town contingents should bring back their trash to the billeting schools. We have to practice proper garbage disposal, especially along the route so that our street cleaners can clean up right away. The faster we clear the streets, the earlier we can reopen our roads,” Tumulak said.

The billeting schools include San Nicolas Elementary School, Regino Mercado National High School, Cebu City Central School, Abellana National School and Labangon Elementary School.

Also during the grand parade, some 36 lost and found booths will be set up by the Philippine National Police and the City’s Division for the Welfare of the Urban Poor.

Parents of missing kids may claim their children at the Task Force Street Children Center in Barangay Parian. (RTF)
