Man shot by 2 motorcycle-riding men

A 27-YEAR-OLD man landed in the hospital on Wednesday afternoon, January 17, after he was shot by two motorcycle-riding men in Sitio Guiwanon in Barangay Poblacion, Compostela, Cebu.

Jefredo Morillo Bataluna suffered multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of his body. He was in critical condition when he was rushed to Cebu Provincial Hospital in Danao City.

Before he was shot at 2 p.m., Bataluna was on his motorcycle. He stopped when the suspects, onboard a separate motorcycle, talked with him.

One of the suspects, the passenger, later pulled out a gun and shot Bataluna, who was able to run and hide in a house.

Police recovered Bataluna's motorcycle, cell phone, voter's identification card, a purse containing P5,496, a pack of cigarettes and other personal belongings.

A pack of "shabu" (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and two fired shells of .45 pistol were recovered.

Compostela Police Chief Junafe Vergara said the shooting may had been related to illegal drug activity. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
