No approval yet on mobile signal shutdown during Sinulog

ACTING Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Director Julian Entoma said they are awaiting the approval of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) for the signal shutdown during the Sinulog festival.

Entoma said the police requested from the NTC a complete signal shutdown in Cebu City, particularly on the solemn procession route today (January 20) from 12 noon until 8 p.m., and tomorrow (January 21) from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

"We are still waiting for the confirmation from the NTC who are also contacting the telecommunications network for our request. The public are advised, like us, to have contingency plans in case the signal shutdown will be implemented at 12 noon today," he said.

Entoma said that everyone should monitor their cellphone signal.

For the police securing the Sinulog activities, Entoma said they are using two-way handheld radios as their main communication device to keep track of the security.

He assured that the police have sufficient handheld radios for the Sinulog festivities. (JOB)
