DEVELOPING the environment is a problem that should be addressed not only by the government but also by the private sector. In this connection, some members of the Knights of Columbus, Visayas Jurisdiction, Fourth Degree Assemblies of District VI is toying with the idea of implementing a near-shore mangrove planting and seashell (imbaw) and bakasi production at the end portion of the planned third Cebu-Mactan bridge in Cordova, Cebu.
The size of the area to be planted with mangroves would be at least 1 hectare that our co-implementor, the Cordova 4th degree assembly’s Santos M. dela Cerna will identify.
This project will be in coordination and in collaboration with the Cordova Municipal Government and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and in partnership with Rotary, another service oriented international organization.
I hope at this point that the Department of Public Works and Highways has already pinpointed the end portion in Cordova of the third bridge.
We are now in the process of organizing the implementing group that has shown interest in the project.--Climaco V. Villanueva Jr., immediate past Faithful Navigator, Bishop Benny Tudtud Assembly
