AUTHORITIES killed on Wednesday, January 24, two suspected ranking officials of the New People’s Army (NPA) in northeast Luzon after they allegedly engaged police and military officers in a firefight in San Manuel, Tarlac, a police official said Thursday.
Chief Superintendent Amador Corpus, Police Regional Office 3 director, identified the suspected NPA leaders as Victorio Tesorio and Lolita Raza who died allegedly after fighting it out against the authorities who were then serving them arrest warrants.
He said the suspects were then in the house of a certain Jose Dallente Caroy in Baranggay San Miguel.
Tesorio and Raza, head of the Northeastern Luzon Regional Command of the NPA and Danilo Ben Command of the Northern Front, respectively were both facing charges of murder, frustrated murder, multiple murder, attempted murder and rebellion.
“During said operation, subject persons resisted arrest and fired against operating troops leading to a firefight and causing the instantaneous deaths of said CNTs (Communist NPA terrorists),” said Corpus.
Recovered from the scene were one llama cal. 45, one colt cal. 45, two hand grenades, one laptop and subversive documents.
Corpus said Caroy will be facing charges for harbouring and concealing criminal.
“This successful operation is the result of concerted intel- driven operations and diligent efforts of both the police and the military to arrest all lawless elements in the region,” said Corpus. (SunStar Philippines)
