Soldier hurt in gun attack

A SOLDIER survived although wounded in a gun attack in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Friday.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the victim as Corporal Abdula Amada, who was assigned to the Army's 102nd Infantry Brigade.

Galvez said Amada was shot at 10:15 a.m. Thursday in the village of Poblacion Muslim, Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Amada was driving his motorcycle when repeatedly shot by one of two motorcycle-riding gunmen who tailed the victim.

Galvez said Amada was rushed to a hospital while the gunmen sped off.

Investigation continues to establish the motive and identify the gunmen. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines
