RTA implements new traffic scheme in Cogon

THE Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) has put in place a new traffic scheme in the Cogon area, opening JR Borja Street, which is located in front of the Cogon Market, to two-way traffic.

RTA officer in charge engineer Nonito Oclarit, the now two-way traffic JR Borja Street, from Captain Vicente Roa Street to Roxas Street, has brought convenience to the private and public transportation drivers.

"Hindi na kailangang iikot ka pa roon sa Yacapin [Street] na daan tapos iikot nanaman din sa Vicente Roa [Street] at tsaka babalik ka doon sa JR Borja [Street]. So ngayon, tuloy-tuloy na ang takbo mo, dire-diretso na lang, two-way traffic na kasi (The drivers don't have to drive through Yacapin Street then to Vicente Roa Street and back to JR Borja Street. So now, the drivers will continue to drive straight because of the two-way traffic)," Oclarit said.

Oclarit said ever since the implementation of the new traffic scheme on Tuesday, January 23, the RTA has been receiving positive feedback from both private and public transport drivers.

"Sa ngayon, tanggap namin na mga feedback positive... Generally, walang problema (So far, we have been receiving positive feedbacks. Generally, no problem)," Oclarit said.

The RTA officer in charge said one of the reasons why they the new traffic scheme was implemented was due to the illegal vendors who were causing traffic problems in the area.

"Talagang pino-prohibit natin yung mga illegal vendors sa street kasi nakakaabala ito sa traffic. So yun po yung pangalawang rason na ginawa nating two-way traffic yung JR Borja [Street] para mag-alangan na yung mga vendors (We really prohibit illegal vendors in the street because they disrupt the traffic. So that's second reason why we changed the JR Borja Street into a two-way traffic, so that the vendors will hesitate in selling in the streets)," Oclarit said.

He added that with the newly transformed two-way street, the traffic flow will run faster and smoothly.
