8 injured in Zamboanga highway collision

EIGHT people, including three children, were injured in a head-on collision between passenger bus and light cargo truck in this city, the police reported Saturday

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the victims as the following: John Carlo Moro, 14; Ernesto Diaz, 60; Aldrey Debora Diaz, 37; Maricel Roliorata, 44; Julian Turtuga, 12; Vaneza Jean Bulawin, 19; Dona Carla Bless Moro, one, and, Arjie Roliolata, 19.

Galvez said the incident happened around 3 a.m. Saturday at Sitio Binaloy in the village of Buenavista, Zamboanga city.

She said the victims were aboard an Isuzu Elf 250 locally known as “Bongo” truck driven by Roliorata bound for the city proper when it collided with the incoming passenger bus.

She said the two vehicles collided when the Bongo truck has encroached the lane of the bus driven by Alcorin Fernandez, 40.

No one among the passengers aboard the bus of the Rural Transit Mindanao, Incorporated, which was bound for Pagadian City, were injured during the incident. - Bong Garcia
