Checkpoint stops 2 robbery suspects

TWO suspected robbers were caught at a checkpoint in Barangay Bulacao, Talisay City last Friday.

They were identified as Junjan Daquiado, 34, who hails from Panaghiusa, Tunghaan, Minglanilla and Leomar Torrevillas, 35, a resident of Bontores, Basak San Nicolas, Cebu City.

Confiscated from them were a caliber .38 revolver, a 9mm handgun with two live bullets, and seven grams of shabu with a Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value of P82, 600.

Authorities believed that the two were involved in several robbery incidents in Talisay and its neighboring towns.

Also seized from the two were several items like automated teller machine (ATM) cards, identification cards, and an ice pick.

Daquiado was also in the drugs watchlist of the Minglanilla police.

In another operation, an alleged high-value target was arrested by virtue of a warrant.

Marites Salibay, 55, a resident of Sitio Rattan, Barangay Tangke, Talisay City was arrested by the Talisay police headed by their officer-in-charge, Supt. Marlu Conag.

Judge Glenda Go of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) 7, Branch 65 in Talisay City had issued the warrant against Salibay, who allegedly violated RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. (JOB)
