Farmers' Market hit P240,000 on its 2nd day

THE Farmers' Market located in the Provincial Capitol Grounds, Cagayan de Oro City, has already earned some P240,000 on its second day.

Done to maximize the market potential of the agricultural products of Misamis Oriental, the market is a venue wherein locally-made organic and inorganic products were displayed and made available for the consumption of the public.

According to Assistant Provincial Agriculturist Linda Tecson, the market was able to collect a total of P240,479.50 from its opening in the morning of January 26 until 8 p.m. of the same day.

Tecson said the fastest selling products in the market were the fresh duck eggs that reached a total of P88,000. This was followed by Doalnara's organic products, such as lettuce and mushroom, that cost P26,675.

Vegetables sold by the 4H Club, a group composed of the youth of Misamis Oriental, has earned P5,555, while the goods made from duck eggs like leche flan, salted egg and balot collected P5,385.

Other commodities such as herbal products, turmeric, rice, coffee, tablea, wild honey, cassava, krispies, fish cracker, barbeque, sweet corn, and other processed food have also earned their huge share of income, said Tecson, adding that even the boxes of Oolong tea were sold out.

“Buyag kayo atong Farmers’ Market karon kay gidumog gyod siya pag-ayo sa mga kunsumante. Naa gani uban nga alas 12 pa sa udto hurot na ang ilang baligya (The Farmers’ Market is doing great especially with the influx of consumers. There are even other booths whose products where already sold out even though it was still noon),” Tecson said.

The assistant provincial agriculturist said the number of groups that participated in the market has also increased to 25, as there were only 16 groups who initially joined the weekly activity during its first official launching.

Tecson said they were expecting another huge sale of products such as this one and to once again earn a huge amount of income this coming Friday, February 2.

She also urged the people of Misamis Oriental to also display their products in the Farmers’ Market as the activity is exclusive to all merchants of the province.
