BCPO to screen Panagbenga volunteers

THE Baguio CITY Police Office continues to screen volunteers who will serve as security for the various events of the month long Panagbenga.

This was confirmed by Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan after their Monday meeting with the city police.

"Some 380 new police trainees coming from the Police Regional Office Cordillera will be deployed together with the 400 strong police manpower of the BCPO who will be utilized and scattered in strategic areas in the city," Domogan said.

Aside from the police personnel of the BCPO and the trainees of PRO-COR, volunteers coming from the BB-PICAG, 911, Emergency Medical Service, criminology students, Girls and Boys Scouts, community oriented civic groups will also form the support group in the community level.

"We leave it to the BCPO to screen our volunteers since it is under their authority on where they are to be deployed, aside from us knowing how many members from each of this group will be participating in the different activities of the Panagbenga," Domogan explained.

A total of 5000 volunteers will be needed to help implement the rules during the conduct of the month long Panagbenga this year.

Aside from inviting the neighboring municipalities and provinces in the conduct of the Baguio Flower Festival, the mayor called on the residents and visitors to strictly abide by the rules and regulations of the city.

"We respectfully request everybody to support the Panagbenga by being aware of pick pockets who frequent such big events to take advantage of the celebration. We also appeal to our visitors to dispose of your litters and garbage properly since we will be placing a lot of garbage receptacles during the Panagbenga," the chief executive added.
