Only 15 names in Cagayan de Oro cops’ ‘Tokhang’ list

A POLICE official said on Tuesday, January 30, that "tokhangers" of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) has only 15 names in its list of validated drug personalities.

Chief Inspector Mardy Hortillosa II, Cocpo spokesperson, said the 15 were culled from a list composed of some 1,000 names submitted to the police national headquarters in Camp Crame.

He said the list was drawn by the Barangay Anti-drug Abuse Council (Badac), submitted to the police stations, intelligence units, the Police Regional Office, and finally forwarded to Camp Crame.

"Pag-abot sa Crame gi-validate og mao nanang listahan nga gibalik sa ato (It came from Crame and it was validated)," Hortillosa said.

"Gamay na lang ang trabahoon sa Tokhangonon kay naanam-anam naman atong pagsugod kaniadto sa Tokhang," he added.

Hortillosa said the rest in the original list heeded the government's call to have themselves rehabilitated.

He said the present list containing 15 names will serve as the basis for the conduct of the modified "Tokhang".

On Monday, 10 drug personalities figured in the list were visited by the Tokhangers, but others were said to be not home.

However, one had supposedly yielded to the Tokhangers of Police Station 2 in Cogon.

"Naay isa voluntary ni-surrender sa Police Station 2 after siya gi-tokhang. Ang pag-count man gud nato is basi sa mag-surrender ug ma-document," he said.

The drug personality will likely be endorsed for rehabilitation.

Hortillosa said through the government's Oplan Tokhang, drug dependents and peddlers will have avenue to think and consider shunning away with illegal drug activities.

"Ang goal nato is mapa-surrender maong through Tokhang, ma educate nato sila hangtod sila moundang," Hortillosa said.
