Man faces murder charge for call center agent’s slay

A 64-YEAR-OLD man has been charged for killing a male call center agent at Villa Lina Subdivision in Barangay Vista Alegre, Bacolod City on Monday.

Senior Inspector Ramel Sarona, head of Police Station 7, said the criminal complaint for murder was filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday against Eduardo Diego of Purok Sunrise, Barangay Taculing.

Sarona said Diego went to his daughter’s house upon learning of her rekindled relationship with the victim, Bernie Casidad, 31.

When Diego saw Casidad at his daughter’s house, he shot him using a .38 caliber revolver.

Casidad succumbed to six gunshot wounds.

Sarona said the suspect, who is detained at the police station, did not approve of the relationship of his daughter with the victim.


The motorcycle-for-hire (habal-habal) driver who was seriously-injured in a strafing incident at Sitio Upper Mamballo, Barangay Quintin Remo, Moises Padilla town last Friday died at a private hospital in Bacolod City two days later.

Senior Inspector Alfred de Leon, town police chief, said Rene Saludares, 33, died around 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Saludares was the target of three unidentified assailants when they fired at his house, but his house helper Elnica Arroz, 18, a Grade 11 student, was hit and killed instead.
