Kaiser Medical picks mall for new clinic

HEALTH care will be taken to a new level with the opening of Kaiser Medical Center Inc., a one-stop-shop for health services located in a mall.

Kaiser Medical Center unveiled its facility yesterday inside the SM Seaside City Cebu. The clinic opens at 6 a.m and closes at 9 p.m or when mall operations end.

Kaiser medical director Dr. Rodrigo Rodrigo cited Cebu’s growing population and flourishing economy as major factors that prompted them to expand their services in Cebu.

The health care service provider already has a facility at the Mactan Economic Processing Zone (Mepz) 1. Their newest branch at SM Seaside is the company’s second branch in Cebu and its first mall branch nationwide. Kaiser’s head office is in Makati City.

Rodrigo said they are taking health care services in Cebu to a new level. He said locating their facility inside a mall will provide its members and walk-in clients easy access and convenience.

Anna Marie Julian, Kaiser Medical’s operations manager, said the 374-square-meter clinic and diagnostics lab was carefully designed to provide patients with privacy and convenience.

“We opened in a mall because this is a strategic location where we can effectively reach out to the community. Plus, you can do a lot of things in a mall, do errands while waiting for the lab results, for example,” said Julian, adding that their newest branch will also cater to the health care needs in the southern part of Cebu as well as those from Mindanao.

Kaiser Medical Center is an out-patient clinic and diagnostic facility. It serves as a mini-hospital without the admissions.

The center offers a range of health services under one roof—consultation, X-ray, CBC, urine test, drug test, ultrasound, 2D echo, cardiology, and other medical services. It also has in-house physicians and boasts of state-of-the-art medical equipment.

Kaiser Medical Center is an affiliate of Kaiser International Health Group Inc., a health maintenance organization (HMO) that caters to both group and individual accounts.

Looking ahead, Rodrigo announced the company will also be expanding at SM City Cebu. In Luzon, they plan to bring their health care services to Quezon City and Cavite. (KOC)
