3 persons lose jewelry, money in farm robbery

THREE persons lost P116,400 worth of jewelry, cash and other valuables in a farm at Purok 5A, Barangay Alangilan, Bacolod City early Friday morning.

Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana, head of Police Station 5, said they received a call for assistance at 3:30 a.m. from complainants Sheen Zayco, 28, and Rissa Paula Alipo-on, 27, both of Himamaylan City; and Lou Didachus Anacleto, 28, of Silay City.

Investigation showed that unidentified men entered through the door of the cottage and carted away assorted jewelry worth P67,000; gadgets worth P8,500; cash amounting to P18,500; and other valuables worth P19,900.

A hot pursuit operation was conducted by police and suspect Romy So-ogon, 22, was arrested around 4 a.m.

Farm caretaker Benjie Laurillo was able to identify So-ogon's two companions – Danillo Junsay, 29, and Gilbert Junsay, 24, both residents of Crossing Carmen, Barangay Granada, who were able to escape on board a motorcycle.

Gabana said So-ogon was driving a motorcycle when they were intercepted by police. However, his two companions fled.

Police recovered from So-ogon cash amounting to only P10,000 and valuables which were placed in an envelope.

So-ogon is detained at the station while police are conducting follow-up operation against the remaining two suspects.
