Dog rescued during Sawang Calero fire fails to make it

A ONE-YEAR-OLD dog that was rescued from a recent fire in Barangay Sawang Calero, Cebu City died a day after it was saved.

Dr. Alice Utlang, chief of the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries (DVMF), said that the dog, named Ash, sustained burns all over its body.

“Sorry to informed you guys, Ash did not make it. She died this morning. Sorry, Ash, we failed to save you,” read Utlang’s Facebook post with a photo of the dog.

Ash was rescued by City Pound personnel of DVMF last Friday after two photojournalists covering the fire that gutted houses in Sawang Calero Thursday night reported her plight.

Once Ash was brought to the pound, Utlang said, their vet immediately treated the dog’s burns. (RVC)
