Burglars grab P117K, gun, security camera before fleeing from coop

UNIDENTIFIED burglars carted away more than P100, 000 cash from the office of a community cooperative in Sitio Tubod, Valladolid, Carcar City yesterday dawn.

PO2 Joe Marie Villar, desk officer of the Carcar City Police, said that alarm was reported to them at 8:30 a.m. by the Cebu CFI Community Cooperative staff.

“The incoming security guard noticed that the roll-up door of the office was halfway opened. There were also signs of forced entry in the glass door,” Villar said.

The coop’s vault was destroyed and the burglars managed to steal P117, 000 cash.

They also stole the closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera, a monitor and a recorder, a caliber .38 revolver, and the coop’s landline phone.

Villar said that the burglars may have committed the crime at dawn yesterday and that no one noticed because of the heavy rain.

Investigators are not ruling out the possibility of an inside job in the burglary but have yet to identify suspects. (JOB)
