Always display NFA rice, retailers urged

NEWLY-installed National Food Authority (NFA) Davao manager calls on their accredited rice retailers to make sure there are always NFA rice displays in their stores every day.

“I look forward that with our inventory now, our partners in the grains industry will understand that at least our NFA rice will be visible in the marketplace – accessible and affordable for the people especially to the low-income earners,” new NFA Davao manager Leonila Selpa said.

With the 30,000 bags of NFA rice that the office has, Selpa said they are still waiting for the next schedule of import. But she wishes retailers would do their best to stretch their weekly allocation and to make sure there is NFA rice display every day.

“Thirty thousand, that is just a small quantity but we are requesting our accredited retailers to be able to stretch their 20-30 bags of rice allocation weekly so that there will be NFA Rice always in your outlets,” Selpa said.

Thirty bags weekly allocation is given to retailers located at major marketplaces in Davao City such as Agdao, Bankerohan, Calinan, and Toril.

She, however, assured Dabawenyos that there is still no shortage of NFA Rice supply in the city, especially that the people also buy commercial rice, which is currently still sufficient.

Selpa served under NFA provincial office in Leyte for 34 years before being assigned to Manila and to NFA Central Office. She was the NFA Tagum City manager for eight months before she was transferred to Davao City. She just assumed office February 2.
