2 men charged for selling shabu during Sinulog

THE Office of the Cebu City Prosecutor has indicted two people for allegedly selling shabu during the Sinulog 2018 festivities last month.

Prosecutor Naruzen Lorete found evidence to charge Roger Jumadil and Mahidi Hajaral with violations of the Comprehensive Drugs Act.

“The accused, conniving and confederating together and mutually helping each other, with deliberate intent, without authority of law, did sell to a police poseur buyer one sachet of shabu weighing 51.43 grams,” the charge sheet read.

Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 arrested Jumadil and Hajaral, who took the plane from Zamboanga to Mactan via Cagayan de Oro City, last Jan. 21.

The buy-bust took place outside of a convenience store in Barangay Banilad at 4:30 p.m. last Jan.21, 2018.

Seized from the accused were the P100,000 buy-bust money and a sachet of suspected shabu. The offense is not bailable.

PDEA 7 arrested the suspects and seized from them 1.3 kilos of alleged shabu worth P7 million during the Sinulog 2018 festivities last Jan. 18 to 21 in Metro Cebu and Mandaue City.

PDEA 7 Director Emerson Margate had said that they intercepted the bulk of shabu coming from Zamboanga and Jolo in Mindanao.

PDEA 7 arrested Teresa Evangelista, who took the land trip from Zamboanga, at the south bus terminal last Jan. 20. She was allegedly carrying 650 grams of shabu.

Evangelista denied the charges, saying she was in Cebu to visit her child, who was having a hotel and restaurant management internship.

On Jan. 18, about 290 grams were seized from Neressa Magbanua, Marichu Pestaño,Virginia Orge and Ruth Jimenez in Bakilid, Mandaue City.

On Jan. 20 at 4 a.m., Arvin Postrero and Sheilamar dela Torre were caught with 50 grams in Barangay Banawa, Cebu City.

Later that night, 105 grams were seized from Leo Oliveros and Eric Castro in Barangay Guadalupe. (GMD)
