Military has police’s back in the latter’s manhunt for killer of Staff Sgt. Mark Herbert Oberes

POLICE have the support of the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Central Command (AFP-CentCom) in their pursuit of a suspected New People’s Army (NPA) member who allegedly killed Air Force Staff Sgt. Mark Herbert Oberes last week.

Police are trying to hunt down Tomas Isugan, who, along with five others, allegedly shot Oberes, put his body inside a car and brought it to Carcar where the vehicle was set on fire last Jan. 31.

“We will give our support if they need and request it. If we have information about Isugan, we can coordinate with them. If they need the muscle from the military, we can give support to the police,” said Centcom spokesperson Col. Medel Aguilar.

Aguilar said that they have yet to validate reports that Isugan and three other suspects are hiding in an NPA lair in Buenavista, Negros Occidental.

Cebu Provincial Police Office Director Edgar Allan Okubo said that their operatives are still tracking down the whereabouts of Isugan and his companions. (JOB)
