Ex-convict dead, girl wounded in shooting incident

AN EX-CONVICT was shot dead while a 16-year-old girl was wounded past 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, in Sitio Puntod in Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City.

Police identified the fatality as Jonathan Pagusara, who succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in the body.

The 34-year-old victim was eating in a street-food stall by the side of the road before he was shot.

He failed to notice the gunman, who approached him and shot him several times.

The girl near Pagusara was hit twice in the right arm by stray bullets.

She was brought to a hospital for treatment.

The homicide investigators led by Senior Police Officer 2 Wetzel Berry recovered 20 empty shells of .9mm pistol in the crime scene.

He said the killer was really mad and made it sure the victim died once he attacked him.

Berry said they are looking into the possibility that the murder was related to illegal drug trade activity.

Four persons are being looked into as the possible gunman.

Pagusara, who was convicted for committing robbery and engaging in illegal drug trade, reportedly had served time in Iwahig Penal Colony in Palawan.

The gunman walked to a parked motorcycle and fled. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
