Group turns over riverwalk, eco project to CSF

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- In its bid to promote healthy living and help save the natural resources of the community, the Rotary Club of San Fernando Pampanga has recently partnered with the city government to facilitate its riverwalk and eco-park project.

The project, launched September last year, aims to revive the San Fernando River (Sta. Lucia portion) and enhance its natural beauty. It also aims to develop the riverbank as a recreational area where Fernandinos can enjoy outdoor activities like jogging and biking.

During the turnover ceremony, Rotary Club of San Fernando (Pampanga) President Fer Caylao, noted that it has always been the organization’s mission to create significant projects that have a lasting impact on the community it serves.

“We have always been committed to the environment, particularly through managing our vital natural resources,” he said.

“As we were thinking of our legacy project last year, we all agreed upon the Riverwalk and eco-park initiative, which we now believe, we can better manage through the help of our city government led by our fellow rotarian, Mayor Edwin Santiago,” he added.

Under their agreement, the riverwalk and eco-park’s facilities are now under the maintenance of the city government.

The project was pushed through the funding of Rotary members and contribution of other private partners like the City of San Fernando Water District, Primewater City of San Fernando, KL Foundation, and San Fernando Electric Light and Power Company, among others.
