Fernando: Blooming

WHEN the world gives you reasons to smile, you probably appreciate every little thing that happens to you throughout the day. Your aura will not escape the beholden looks of your friends or officemates because it radiates positivity. Yes, it because you are blooming.

When a flower blooms, it shows its true beauty. When a person is said to be blooming, it exudes the inner beauty of that person. You would not sense any kind of negativity in him/her. Sure, he/she will encounter problems during the day but it does not affect his/her gay mood. He/she could process negativities as part of daily existence thus he/she treats these experiences as challenges and not as problems. A blooming person creates a ripple effect. It makes people around him/her energetic. What is nice being in the company of a blooming person is that it becomes easier to smile. You will see more of your blessings rather than your failures.

Take note I used the term blooming for both girls and boys because both of them have the capacity to feel blooming. Blooming is a feeling of positivity coupled with contentment and being grateful. Any person can have this sentiment.

This is the month of love and the more it gives people reasons to bloom. Love causes the body to feel comfort amidst difficulties. The anger subsides. The discontent evaporates. The disappointment shrinks. It makes you see life as a blessing and an opportunity to be happy.

Love makes a person feels radiant. Because of love, you learn to befriend yourself. It makes you appreciative of your work. It makes you appreciate the presence of your children and friends. You learn to value yourself and see the value of others. This is not a perfect life. This does not mean a person is ‘blooming’ because he/she is without problems. No. There will always be problems. A blooming person only have a positive perspective in life.

This is Panagbenga month, and the more we see flowers blooming. Not only on the gardens but on the streets where flowers are used as decorations on floats. People arrive in the city in pack just to get a glimpse of this popular flower festival. No other cities in the world would be more blooming than our own Baguio this month. Families come together. Friends get together. Strangers smile at each other. The community of Baguio is one in offering this grand fiesta to the world. Through a collaborative effort, the city is blooming with pride and beauty. Let’s just hope that litters would not destroy the majestic view of flowers on the streets.

If we let love reigns, you will sure be blooming every day. Never mind those who hate, they surely have more creases than you. It does not only benefit you as you experience joy. It can also make the person next to you smile more often. Like a flower that spreads its petals to offer its beauty, a blooming person also spread love to the community. What else can we ask for that?
