Rewards eyed to enforcers who catch Lapu execs, employees

LAPU-LAPU City Mayor Paz Radaza will reward traffic enforcers who can apprehend City Hall employees or elected officials found violating the city’s traffic rules.

The move came after Radaza received reports that there were individuals who told traffic enforcers that they are employees of City Hall, when apprehended, to dodge traffic fines.

She said she wants to penalize those who are abusing their authority to get away with their violations.

Radaza said her directive took effect after she met with the City Traffic Management System (CTMS) personnel last Saturday to discuss the traffic situation in the city.

Amount

In a press conference yesterday, the mayor said P2,000 will be given to the traffic enforcer who can catch a City Hall employee violating a traffic rule.

Those who can catch a department head or an elected official, on the other hand, will receive P3,000 and P5,000, respectively, she added.

Radaza also ordered CTMS personnel to issue a citation ticket for disobedience to the city’s employees and elected officials who will resist the issuance of citation ticket for their traffic violations.

The mayor said she already discussed her plan with Vice Mayor Marcial Ycong and the latter is willing to share the expenses for the giving of the reward.

Radaza said she wants an ordinance filed in the City Council that will cover her new directive to the CTMS. (FMG)
