Woman dead, 3 others wounded in separate road accidents

A WOMAN died and three persons were injured on Wednesday, February 7, in separate vehicular accidents in Carcar City and Argao, Cebu.

Past 11 a.m., Mauricia Pantilgan died after she was hit by a motorcycle on the national highway in Sitio Kamagayan in Barangay Perrelos, Carcar City.

The victim was crossing the street when the incident happened. She was thrown off and her head hit the road.

Pantilgan succumbed to injuries in the head and other parts of her body. The motorcycle driver fled.

On the national highway in Barangay Langtad, Argao, three men were injured after the motorcycle with sidecar they were riding was hit by a car driven by a drunk man around 8 p.m.

The injured were identified as Josemi Anog, 36, the driver; and his passengers Julio Paborada, 27; and Clark Lester Abadiano, 17.

The car driver was identified as Michael Roperos, the brother-in-law of a foreigner who operates a gyrocopter in Barangay Casay, Dalaguete town.

Police Officer 2 Clifford Butron, who was part of the team that chased Roperos, said the suspect left the car in Casay and escaped.

He said they heard Roperes had fired a gun in Sawang, Langtad before he drove the car, but no resident complained against him in the police station. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
