Duck production in Davao region up by 2%

AS OF January 1, 2018, the number of backyard ducks in Davao Region had increased by 2.15 percent to 487,354 from only 477,089 during the same period last year while the number of commercial ducks increased by as much as 11.07 percent to 52,562 from only 47,320 January 1 of last year.

In a data provided by the Philippine Statistics Office (PSA), most of the backyard ducks grown in Davao Region are from Davao del Norte with the province having a total of 225,468 ducks as of the beginning of this year. They were followed by Davao Oriental growing about 78,408 ducks, Davao City with 66,010, Davao del Sur with recorded 65,652 ducks, and Compostela Valley with a total of 51,816 ducks.

On the other hand, only three provinces in the region were recorded to have been growing commercial ducks. This includes Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte, and Davao del Sur.

Davao del Norte has the biggest number of commercial ducks recorded in the beginning of 2018 with a total of 30,011, followed by Compostela Valley with 20, 257 ducks, and Davao del Sur at only 2,294.
