TRAVEL opportunities are now within reach as the Davao Travel Agencies Association (DTAA) brings anew the Davao Mega Travel Sale (DMTS) on February 16 to 18, 2018 at Abreeza Ayala Mall activity area.
For its 9th year, DMTS will feature 50 exhibitors composed of different travel agencies, tour operators, airlines, hotels, resorts, and destination promotion agencies from the different parts of the country and Southeast Asia.
Following the success of the DMTS last year, reaching gross sales of P50 million, DTAA president Alexander Divinagracia said they are looking forward to equal, if not surpass, its performance this year. Of the figure, Divinagracia said, a big chunk was from booking and purchase of flight tickets.
DTAA external vice president and PAR Travel and Tours general manager Pia Lourdes Partoza said in a separate interview that, for this year, as the Davao and Mindanao market continue to upgrade their travel preferences, the travel sale will feature new popular destinations to clients.
“Each year we look at what destinations are starting to be popular, for the Mindanao market we have put in more destinations around the world because the market is leveling up, so we are trying to upgrade our services and packages for this year,” she said adding European destinations are presently in demand among travelers like Iceland.
She also said that all-time favorite destinations are still offered like trips to Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Bangkok and other Asian countries.
DMTS, Partoza said, will serve as a venue for gathering major industry players to launch new services or products and establish new marketing connections.
“With DMTS, people especially those into traveling are given more opportunities to travel this 2018. More affordable fares and tour packages are up for grabs,” she said.
Airlines that will be present will be AirAsia, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, Silk Air, and Turkish Airlines which will participate for the first time this year.
Among the offers that will be made available during the travel sale will be air fare discounts with travel flight schedules until 2019, land arrangements that may be used anytime until the end of the year, and organized tour packages for at least two people. These tour packages may include bus tickets among others.
Divinagracia said they have also partnered with Pioneer Safe Trip for travel insurance needs of the passengers. These offers will be made available also during the travel sale.
As DTAA is also partnering with BPI, the bank will offer “double your credit limit” to all BPI credit card holders who will use their cards to purchase and book flight tickets during the travel sale.
Moreover, Partoza shared that exhibitors will also sell local destinations including Mati, Palawan, Cebu and Bohol
This year’s DMTS theme is “Let us travel the world.”
