SOME 8,000 law enforcers will be deployed to ensure the safety and security of delegates from different provinces and cities in Davao for the weeklong Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet 2018, which is slated to kick off on February 18.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson Ma. Teresita Gaspan said they started deploying their police personnel in different playing venues and billeting areas in Davao City.

She also assured that the local law enforcers will work hard to sustain the peace and order during the activities to avoid any possible occurrence of crimes or eventualities.

The 8,000 law enforcers do not only include police but also the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and other force multipliers for the whole duration of Davraa 2018.

"We are still in full alert status. Wala pa siya na-downgrade (it was not yet downgraded). Of course, tight ang ating security measures in all billeting areas, places of engagement where activities will take place, there are police deployed," she said.

She said the police presence will be round the clock to ensure that the delegates are safe. There are 15 schools in Davao City to be utilized as billeting quarters.

Gaspan also advised the delegates to look after their personal belongings to avoid cases of missing things.

"We have already deployed our personnel, including the augmentation from PRO 11 (Police Regional Office-Davao). Around 8,000 not only entire security forces form different law enforcement and public safety services unit," she said.
