6 arrested in Sibugay, Sulu drug raids

GOVERNMENT authorities have arrested six people and seized P37,000 worth of illegal drugs and firearms in the provinces of Zamboanga Sibugay and Sulu.

Arrested in Zamboanga Sibugay were Muti Dapat, 40, and his younger brother, Ahmad, 31.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Director Lyndon Aspacio said the Dapat brothers were arrested around 11 p.m. Monday in the village of Salipyasin, Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Aspacio said confiscated from the two brothers were 10 grams of suspected shabu (crystal meth) worth P36,000, a loaded handgun, and P500 marked money.

Arrested in the province of Sulu were Bennajar Amil, 39; Ethar Taratingan, 35; Al-Nibar Annil, 25; and Nasser Ijerail, 25.

Aspacio said they were arrested around 11:40 a.m. Monday by joint PDEA and police team the village of Kajatian, Indanan town.

Aspacio said confiscated from the four suspects were shabu worth P1,000, a loaded handgun, P300 marked money and illegal drugs paraphernalia.

Cases for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act are set to be filed against the suspects.
