Mitsubishi launches Xpander in Davao

MITSUBISHI Motors wowed car enthusiasts as they released for pre-booking their newest Mitsubishi Xpander last Thursday, February 15.

A crossbreed between an SUV and a multi-purpose vehicle, the new Mitsubishi Xpander is targeted to be ideal for young couples and young professionals or even those who already have existing cars at the meantime.

The pre-booking had already been done in different cities in Luzon and Visayas during the early weeks of January. Jose E. Zaulda Jr., the Network Training Department marketing division manager, said they encourage all Dabawenyos interested to come and see the new Mitsubishi Xpander model in their showroom in J.P. Laurel Avenue before it would be transferred to General Santos City for the last leg of the roadshow.

The Xpander unit comes in two different models the base model which costs around P900,000 and the top-end models which is currently priced at around P1.1 million. Reservation fee for the unit, which is targeted to finally be released nationwide on May 2018, is only at P10,000.

Zaulda shared how the engine of Xpander is equipped with their signature Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) system with 1.5L DOHC 16 Valves.

"Since the car is a cross between an SUV and a multi-purpose vehicle, even if you bring that to high-terrain areas, it can withstand because it has ground clearance of about 205 millimeters. That's the highest among its competitors in this segment. Now, if you're talking about the city and the highway, it is very fuel-efficient. Based on testing in Indonesia, with 7 passengers on board plus some cargo, it registered a combined city and highway, 11 kilometers per liter. They tracked that if it traversed in a straight highway, that's 17 kilometers per liter," he said.

Mitsubishi Xpander was manufactured and had first been used in Indonesia. Zaulda said it was received warmly by the Indonesian market and wish that the same will happen in the Philippines as well as it is the second country where Xpander was launched.

Aside from its specs that are both found in SUVs and multi-purpose vehicles, the Xpander also has global standard safety features installed in the unit such as Active Stability Control (ASC), Traction Control (TCL), Hill Start Assist (HAS), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) system, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Mitsubishi's proprietary Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body.

In his opening speech, Zaulde said they are looking forward for a good selling performance of Mitsubishi Xpander in Davao City because of its cross-over design and unique features which includes roominess, omotenashi (which means hospitality and quality that meets the customers' needs), comfort, and safety.

Mitsubishi Xpander comes in colors red, black, silver, white, and gray.
