Duterte pledges more projects for Mindanao

MISAMIS Oriental Governor Yevgeny "Bambi" Emano on Friday said the mayors and governors in the Visayas and Mindanao were informed by President Rodrigo Duterte regarding the administration's plan to pour more projects in the region.

Emano said Duterte made the assurance after calling all mayors and governors in Visayas and Mindanao for a meeting in Cebu City, last Monday, promising to give to give nationally-funded projects to provinces and cities regardless of political affiliations.

The meeting, Emano said, lasted until past midnight because a lot of things were laid down.

"Tanan kami makadawat og proyekto para sa kalamboan sa among probinsya (All of us will receive projects)," Emano said.

"Gipasabot sab kanamo nga sa iyang administrasyon tanan mapalabi ug matagaan og higayon nga makaangkon og proyekto sa walay paglantaw ug pagpili sa bulok sa politika (We were also told that all will be given projects regardless of political color),"he added.

Emano said the president had also been asking the local chief executives in the Visayas and Mindanao to support his fight against corruption, illegal drugs and terrorism.

Emano has been emphasizing in his speeches and press briefings that his administration supports the leadership and the programs of the president.

The governor explained that Duterte's programs and policies are for the welfare of the Filipino people.

Emano said he also supports a shift to a federal form of government as pushed by the Duterte administration.

"I agree with the federal form of government. It has been almost 20 years that I have served my people..but still many of our people still grow in the dark without electricity, hungry and cannot eat three times a day,"Emano said.

"I strongly believe that the current system that we have right now for the last 20 years in public office has not brought us anywhere. So I would rather choose something new and pray and work harder because it might be the solution. It may not be 100 percent but I would take anything that is new for the Filipino people,"he added.
