AT least 2,000 barangay workers in three towns of Bantayan Island were given cash incentives by the Cebu Provincial Government.
More than P3.5 million was released by the Capitol for the barangay tanods, barangay health workers, barangay nutrition scholars, day care workers, barangay animal health aide, and members of the lupon tagapamayapa in the municipalities of Santa Fe, Bantayan and Madridejos.
Capitol gave cash aid to support the work of barangay workers who are in the frontline in the delivery of basic services.
Gov. Hilario Davide III and Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale led the distribution of the cash aid.
Tanods received P1,500 each while barangay health workers, day care workers, barangay nutrition scholars and animal health aide were given P2,400 each.
Lupons, on the other hand, were given P1,500 each.
In Bantayan, Capitol released P1.5 million worth of cash incentives to 830 barangay workers assigned in 25 barangays.
In Santa Fe, the Provincial Government released P863,100 for the 441 barangay workers assigned in 10 villages.
Some P1.1 million, on the other hand, was set aside for the 584 workers assigned in 14 barangays in Madridejos. (JKV)
