TWO police officers with the rank of Police Officer 2 tested positive in a random drug test conducted among at least 92 police officers last Jan. 31.
According to Senior Supt. Remos Medina, Regional Intelligence Division (RID) chief of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7, the two will still undergo a confirmatory test.
“Two of them tested positive but they will still be subjected to a confirmatory test. If they test positive again in the confirmatory test, they will be subjects for dismissal from service,” Medina said.
The 92 police officers who took the drug tests were from the Regional Special Operations Group, Carbon Police Station in the Cebu City Police Office, and from the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.
One was traced to Lapu-Lapu City while the other hailed from Cebu City. The names of the police officers were not revealed.
Medina said that if the policemen will test negative in the second test, they will remain in their post.
The random drug test was part of the PRO 7’s continuous internal cleansing of their ranks.
Medina said that they hoped to conduct surprise drug tests on all the personnel in the region. (JOB)
