Dela Rosa denies Alejano’s claim on war on drug’s 'pattern'

PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief Ronald Dela Rosa shoot down on Saturday, February 17, the claim of Magdalo representative Gary Alejano that there is a pattern in the PNP’s anti illegal drugs operations.

"Hindi kasi niya alam 'yan, kasi Navy siya, hindi siya pulis. Hindi niya alam 'yan na 'yung transaction ng droga ay nangyayari sa gabi... sa madilim sa lugar. Congressman Alejano, I'm very sorry to tell you na hindi mo alam ‘yung pattern dahil you're a Navy officer, hindi ka pulis," Dela Rosa said.

"Kapag umaga, lahat ng adik, pusher, tulog 'yan. 'Pag gabi, 'pag medyo madilim na, dahan dahan 'yan gigising at diyan 'yan nagtata-transact ng drug transaction... kaya lahat ng buy-bust operation karamihan nangyari sa gabi," he added.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Alejano showed a graphical analysis of the 1,005 spot reports of the deaths of 1,671 suspected drug personalities from July 2016 to September 2017. He said the spot reports which is 26 percent of the 3,850 drug personality death cases was sent to his office by the PNP.

Alejano concluded that there was a pattern in the PNP war on drugs and that it is being conducted during night time, that policemen are usually recovering unlicensed calibre .38 revolver from the “nanlaban” suspect and that illegal drugs come in sachets.

The Congressman also claim that there may be cases of planting of evidences against the killed drug suspects.

"The conduct of operation during these hours could provide concealment to our police personnel for improved apprehension of drug suspects, or maybe the PNP purposely chose to conduct operations during these inconspicuous hours to conceal their activities from witnesses," Alejano said.

To his response, Dela Rosa said “if you are a criminal gusto mo ba gumamit ng baril na may lisensya na may serial number na ma-trace sa iyo o sa kaninumang tao na madadamay sa ginawa mong krimen. So it will go back to you so gagamit ka ng unlicensed firearm and .38, yes dahil ang .38 ang pinaka easily available in the underground market. ‘Yung .38 revolver marami gumagawa n’yan sa Cebu, homemade karamihan at mura kayang bilhin n’yan nila.”

Dela Rosa however welcomes any investigation which may be done on the government’s war on drugs.

He ensured that they will not hide anything from those who will conduct investigation.

“Basta kapag andyan na yan harapin namin yan. Wala kaming tinatago, malaman nila yan kapag mag iimbestiga sila na hindi pala ito utos ni presidente, hindi pala ito state sponsored. Anong state sponsored? Sinong gagong presidente magpapapatay sa kanyang sariling tao? Mga Pilipino yan and to think ang presidente ay talagang mahal nya ang mahirap na tao, papatayin mo lang ng ganun, gusto mo ipapatay dahil ano for what?,” he said.

Dela Rosa, however, maintained that such investigation are being pushed by the opposition who wanted to bring down the Duterte administration.

“Manigas sila. Hindi nila kayang ibagsak ‘yung presidente na elected by the people and trust rating is 83 percent. Sabihan mo sa kanila, you want to bring down the Duterte administration, over my dead body, giyera tayo. Hinahamon ko kayo gyera tayo. Gusto ninyo ng coup d’etat, mag coup d’etat tayo, gyera tayo. Huwag n’yo akong takutin,” he said. (SunStar Philippines)
