IN line with the National Dental Health Month this February, the Department of Health (DOH) 7 has conducted a dental mission in Cebu City and taught children about the importance of oral health.

The agency, together with volunteers from Kanagawa, Japan and the Philippine Dental Association (PDA)-Cebu Chapter went to Mabolo Elementary School last Feb. 12.

PDA Cebu president-elect Dr. Felix Asoy said that more than 100 persons received services like extraction, filling, cleaning, and free dentures.

The National Dental Health Month celebration kicked off last Jan. 28.

Aside from Mabolo, there will be six schools in the city that will be given dental lectures by DOH starting today until Feb. 21.

These are Barangays Tejero, Mabolo, Lorega, Punta Princesa, Mambaling, and the Don Vicente Rama Memorial School.

According to DOH, eight out of 10 Filipinos experience dental health concerns.

PDA then reminded the public to use toothbrush with soft bristles and have a dental checkup every six months or every four months, depending on the teeth’s condition. (JOHN PAUL FAJARDO, USJ-R INTERN)
