HOST Silay City and La Carlota City spikers posted twin victories in the opening day of the Negros Occidental Volleyball Association (Nova)-Negros Occidental Cultural and Sports Foundation (NOCSF) Age-Group Volleyball Championship at Silay City public plaza covered court.
Silay City survived the tough fighting Sipalay City team in the 14U boys: 25-20, 20-25 and 25-10 and swept Negros Occidental High School in the 16U girls, 25-9 and 25-9.
La Carlota squad also blanked Sipalay City team in the 12U girls, 25-11 and 25-19 and escaped Bago City in a thrilling match in 16U boys, 25-22 and 25-23.
Sipalay City bounced back against La Carlota in 12U boys, 25-16 and 25-19 while Bacolod Tay Tung High School defeated the latter's squad in a grueling match in 16U girls 25-15, 22-25 and 25-23.
In the other 14U girls, Talisay City dominated Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod, 25-14 and 25-13 as Pontevedra conquered Trinity Christian School: 25-15 and 25-21.
For the 16U boys, the University of St. La Salle and St. Theresita's Academy ruled Don Bosco Technical Institute and La Consolacion College-Bacolod, 25-13 and 25-14 each.
