NHA asked to re-evaluate Z3R houses

THE Local Inter-Agency Committee has asked National Housing Authority (NHA) General Manager Marcelino Escalada Jr. to re-evaluate and reassess all houses constructed under the Zamboanga City Roadmap to Recovery and Reconstruction (Z3R) in the city to determine if they are fit for occupancy.

The LIAC, headed by Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, made the request after a unit of a Z3R housing in the village of Tulungatung has collapsed on February 14.

In the meantime, the LIAC has instructed the Housing Division together with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and the Z3R Focal team to process the evacuation of the 326 families occupying housing units in Sitio Dubai, Tulungatung to prevent similar incident.

Salazar together with a technical team composed of members of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers and City Engineer’s Office, City Councilors Jimmy Villaflores, Josephine Pareja and Elbert Atilano, Sr., Housing Division Chief Cesar Jimenez II and Tulungatung village chief Jojo del Rosario personally inspected the site last Saturday and made some initial observations.

NHA Zamboanga Head Al-Kwarizmi Indanan said the Tulungatung Housing project is under process for project termination pending compliance of NHA final acceptance findings.

Indanan said the contractor still needs to adequately respond to the letter signed by Escalada regarding compliance with these findings of the NHA Final Acceptance Committee.

As it is, Indanan said, the contractor is still liable as the project is still under warranty period. (SunStar Philippines)
