THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Davao Region assured the public that all politicians, particularly candidates in the upcoming barangay elections, do not have a hand in selecting Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries.
DSWD-Davao assistant regional director for operations Rebecca Santamaria said candidates in the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and barangay elections do not have any access in choosing who will become a beneficiary or who will be delisted.
Santamaria said the agency has already disseminated information that beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) should not be used during the election campaign. She added that the agency strictly prohibits such act.
"The beneficiaries have nothing to worry. Only the DSWD can remove them from the list of the Pantawid Pamilya due to valid reasons. We also disallow any Pantawid beneficiary to be an election campaign manager," Santamaria said.
4Ps is a conditional cash transfer program of the government that aims to address poverty problem of Filipino households on a short-term basis, investing in health and education of the kids’ ages 18 years old and below.
Santamaria said only families who had been found to have regular income, or those who provided false information, and those who pawned their cash cards and other observable behaviors will be delisted from the Pantawid Pamilya list.
DSWD-Davao so far delisted about 13,961 beneficiaries of 4Ps in 2017 after failing to meet its conditions.
Of the 13,961 delisted beneficiaries, 231 were for Grievance Redress System (GRS) ineligibility, 11,693 for no eligible for Compliance Verification System, 352 had regular income, 356 for other concerns, 147 for fraud and 1,182 waived their 4Ps benefit.
As of 2017, the region has 231,864 Pantawid household provided with cash grants under regular Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) and 29,065 under modified CCT.
