P294M disbursed to aid individuals in crisis

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Davao Region has disbursed more than P2-million for the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program in 2017.

In a data obtained from DSWD-Davao, the agency has disbursed a total of P294,411,644 for AICS, of which P159,488,941 goes to Crisis Intervention Unit (CIU) and P134,922,703 goes to the Lingap sa Masa in two government hospitals in the region.

The CIU served a total of 46,197 clients for medical assistance, burial assistance, transportation, education and food assistance; while the Lingap served 14,464 clients at Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) and Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC).

DSWD-Davao assistant director for operations Rebecca Santamaria said the agency will do its best to improve the Assistance to Individuals/Families in Crisis Situation (AICS) program this year.

The AICS, one of the major programs of the DSWD-CIU, provides immediate education, burial, transportation and medical assistance to those in crisis situations.
