MisOr road projects worth P250-M now underway

The Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental has announced that it has begun and broken ground on two road projects in the province worth some P250 million.

Last February 8, Provincial Governor Yevgeny Emano led the ground breaking ceremony of the P180 million Balingasag-Pelaez-Impakibil Provincial Road Upgrading Project, wherein the construction will start in Barangay Baliwagan, Balingasag, Misamis Oriental.

The road project, according to the Provincial Engineering Office, will span 15.88 kilometers with a width of 6.10 meters and a thickness of 0.20 meters.

The Provincial Engineering Office added that the road project, which is under the contract with Syndtite Construction Corporation, will connect Barangay Baliwagan and Barangay Bulawayo, Claveria.

Aside from the said barangays, the Provincial Information Office said other barangays such as San Juan, Minabu, Sulu (Sitio Samay), Pelaez (Sitio Bulahan) and Impakibil will also benefit from the project.

The Balingasag-Pelaez-Impakibil Provincial Road Upgrading Project, according to Emano, was funded under the Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces (CMGP) of the Department of Interior and Local Government.

He added that they were also able to acquire additional fund from the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (Pamana) Program of Secretary Jesus Dureza, the presidential adviser of the peace process, as the project aims to address of the residents in the barangays involved.

"Nakakuha kita ug pundo sa Pamana Program ubos ni Secretary Jesus Dureza, pagsemento sa dalan, yawat makatubag sa kahusay ug kalinaw (We were able to acquire funds from the Pamana Program under Secretary Jesus Dureza for the cementing of the road to address the peace and order of the province)," Emano said.

A week after, on February 15, another ground breaking and capsule laying rites were conducted for the Jasaan-Claveria Provincial Road Upgrading Project which is worth P100 million.

The Jasaan-Claveria Road Project is also backed by the CMGP of the DILG.

The P250 million road projects are aimed at improving accessibility in these far-flung communities as well as aid in the delivery of services to more communities in the province.

"There will be more ground breaking rites to be done in the coming days with the help from our National Government," Emano said.

The provincial governor also mentioned that another P100 million road cementing project in Opol, from Barangay Tingalan, to Bagocboc, and to Nangcaon, is still on process.

"There are some of our projects which are scheduled for ground breaking in the coming days. This will not take long," Emano said.
